How to choose and use carbide saw blades correctly?

Carbide saw blades are the most commonly used cutting tools for processing wood products and metal products. The quality of carbide saw blades is closely related to the quality of processed products. The correct and reasonable selection of cemented carbide saw blades is of great significance for improving product quality, shortening processing cycles and reducing processing costs. I have listed a few suggestions*** for reference:

What should I pay attention to when choosing a carbide saw blade?

Carbide saw blades include many parameters such as tooth shape, angle, number of teeth, saw blade thickness, saw blade diameter, and carbide type, which determine the processing ability and cutting performance of the saw blade. When selecting a saw blade, the parameters of the saw blade should be correctly selected according to the needs.

Tooth shape, commonly used tooth shapes are flat teeth, scallop teeth, trapezoidal teeth, inverted trapezoidal teeth, etc. Flat teeth are the most widely used, mainly used for sawing of ordinary wood. This kind of tooth shape is relatively simple and the saw edge is relatively rough. The flat teeth can make the bottom of the groove flat during the operation of the grooving process. The quality of the saw blade is good, and it is suitable for sawing various wood-based panels and veneer panels. Trapezoidal teeth are suitable for sawing veneer panels and fireproof boards, and can obtain higher sawing quality. Inverted trapezoidal teeth are often used in undercut saw blades.

The angle of the serrations is the position of the serrations when cutting. The angle of the saw teeth affects the performance of the cut. The biggest influence on cutting is the rake angle γ, the clearance angle α, and the wedge angle β. The rake angle γ is the cutting angle of the sawtooth. The larger the rake angle, the faster the cutting. The rake angle is generally between 10-15°. The clearance angle is the angle between the sawtooth and the machined surface. Its function is to prevent the sawtooth from rubbing against the machined surface. The larger the clearance angle, the smaller the friction and the smoother the processed product. The relief angle of the carbide saw blade is generally 15°. The wedge angle is derived from the front and back angles. But the wedge angle should not be too small, it plays the role of maintaining the strength, heat dissipation and durability of the teeth. The sum of the front angle γ, the rear angle α, and the wedge angle β is equal to 90°.

Generally speaking, the more teeth there are, the more cutting edges can be cut in a unit time, and the better the cutting performance. , the chip capacity between the teeth becomes smaller, which is easy to cause the saw blade to heat up; in addition, there are too many saw teeth, and if the feed rate is not matched properly, the cutting amount of each tooth will be very small, which will aggravate the friction between the cutting edge and the workpiece and affect the service life of the cutting edge. . Usually the tooth spacing is 15-25mm, and a reasonable number of teeth should be selected according to the material to be sawed.

The thickness of the saw blade In theory, we hope that the thinner the saw blade, the better, and the saw seam is actually a kind of consumption. The material of the saw blade with the carbide saw blade and the process of manufacturing the saw blade determine the thickness of the saw blade. When choosing the thickness of the saw blade, the stability of the saw blade and the material to be sawed should be considered.

The diameter of the saw blade is related to the sawing equipment used and the thickness of the workpiece to be sawed. The diameter of the saw blade is small, and the cutting speed is relatively low; the large diameter of the saw blade requires high requirements for the saw blade and sawing equipment, and the sawing efficiency is also high, such as tooth shape, angle, number of teeth, thickness, diameter, carbide type, etc. A series of parameters are combined into the whole of the carbide saw blade, and its advantages can be better exerted by reasonable selection and matching.

How should the various parameters of the carbide saw blade be selected?

Carbide saw blade manufacturing enterprises cannot make so many specifications of saw blades. According to the optimal rule, the specification series of currently commonly used carbide saw blades are formed according to the specific factors such as the equipment and materials of the current wood processing enterprises. This is not only conducive to our selection of carbide saw blades, but also to the large-scale production of alloy saw blade manufacturers.

In general, left and right teeth should be selected for sawing particleboard and medium density board, and flat trapezoidal teeth (flat teeth, trapezoidal teeth combination) are generally selected for sawing veneer and fireproof board. The outer diameter of the saw blade is mostly Ф300-350mm according to different circular saw machines, and the thickness of the saw blade is related to the diameter. Ф250-300mm thickness 3.2mm, above Ф350mm 3.5mm. Due to the large cutting rate of computer sizing saws, the diameter and thickness of the carbide saw blades are relatively large. The diameter is about 350-450mm, and the thickness is between 4.0-4.8mm. Most of them use flat ladder teeth to reduce edge chipping. , The alloy saw blade for sawing solid wood is usually composed of left and right teeth, because the combination of the front angle is large, and the wood fiber structure can be cut sharply, and the incision is smooth. For the slotting to keep the bottom of the groove flat, it is necessary to use a flat tooth profile or a combination of left and right flat teeth.

How to identify high-quality carbide saw blades?

Carbide saw blades consist of two parts, a saw blade and a carbide saw tooth. Cemented carbide saw teeth are basically imported at present, and our company adopts Zhuzhou cemented carbide. The alloy particles used in high-quality saw blades are thicker and larger, because such alloy teeth can be sharpened many times and have a long service life. The welding quality of cemented carbide is also very important. withstand greater cutting forces. The quality of the saw blade is very important. Because the saw blade adjusts and rotates, it not only transmits the cutting force but also maintains the stability of the work. A good saw blade does not necessarily have static geometry and accuracy, but more importantly its dynamic characteristics. When the saw blade is continuously cut, the heat generated by the cutting of the alloy saw blade will be transmitted to the saw blade, which will increase the temperature of the saw blade. In this case, the high-quality saw blade can maintain the accuracy of its appearance, while the poor quality saw blade The sawing board will warp, which will affect the sawing accuracy. The dynamic stability of the saw blade is particularly important when several saw blades are used in groups. When a multi-blade saw equipment uses a set of unstable saw blades, how can the quality of longitudinal cutting be ensured? Saw boards and cutter heads are integral parts of a high-quality saw blade.

How to improve the service life of carbide saw blades?

The service life of cemented carbide saw blades is much longer than that of carbon steel and high-speed steel, but some problems in use should still be paid attention to. Carbide teeth are very sharp just after grinding, and then gradually wear out. We divide the wear situation into three stages. The cemented carbide that has just been sharpened has an initial wear stage, and then enters the normal grinding stage. When the wear reaches a certain level, sharp wear will occur. We want to regrind before the sharp wear occurs, so that the number of regrinds is minimized and the life of the saw blade can be extended. Users must not "scramble" saw blades.
